Special recycling tips for tech, plastic bags etc. PSA:Most municipalities have special recycling centers for items that cannot be placed in curbside recycling (scrap metal, plastic bags/film, fluorescent bulbs, larger plastic items, electronics, batteries etc.) Check your city website.
Some stores offer recycling as well. Staples offers $5 reward credit for tech items (computers, printers, phones, and much more) & $2 for ink cartridges. Target also accepts the above items, and offers incentivized car seat recycling twice a year. Plastic bags/films are accepted at Star Market, & Whole Foods accepts some plastic bags/films & wine corks. Home Depot & Lowes: Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), rechargeable batteries, cell phones, plastic bags. Lowes also takes plastic planter pots. Diaper drop off at Wix offices and Centers for Children & Families - bags may be open. Returnable cans/bottles are accepted in many places that sell them, but if you have a lot, E & C in Cambridge is efficient. 1/3/23 Update:Thanks largely to the tremendous community support, Imagine, is still hoping to open again in some form. Our former building has been leased, so any reopening will be at a new location. It is unlikely that we will open this year, but possibly next winter.
We are excited that medical advances offer Covid vaccines for young children and some effective treatments for those who are more vulnerable! A huge heartfelt thank you for all the encouraging comments and for the generous contributions to our "Save Imagine" campaign! Thanks to your help, we have made great strides in covering some of the pandemic losses. We are additionally encouraged to have some people interested in lending a hand with a future comunity playspace! Please join "Friends of Imagine" to participate in this exciting effort when we are again able to coordinate! Hopefully there will be new options for families soon, as several others are looking into opening a playspace as well. I am still playing catch up on a huge backlog of responsibilities; but as soon as things ease up a bit I will be excited to help efforts in opening a new space! |
Aid Through ConservationMany ache for the atrocities in Ukraine to end, but don't know how to help. We can all aid the resolution, and help our planet as well! See how here!
Closing Notes:
We are truly grateful for all your support over the years and through this crisis. Your encouraging comments have helped sustain our spirits. Your generous contributions covered a substantial portion of the huge losses due to the pandemic and enabled us to move and store much of the educational and fun equipment that helped keep children engaged over the years. The happy years of your participation in the Imagine community made everything worthwhile! We look forward to reopening when we secure a location that can accommodate our needs. We hope everyone is well and managing okay in spite of the tremendous challenges these past years have brought. We hope to see you soon in imporved circumstances! Very best wishes!
